Tips for designing a better toilet area

Know these toilet design tips to make your design better:

Tip 1: Maximize Space with Wall-Mounted Fixtures

Tip 2: Optimize the Layout for Better Movement

Tip 3: Utilize Under-Stair Space Effectively

Tip 1: Maximize Space with Wall-Mounted Fixtures

  • Traditional floor-mounted sinks and toilets occupy valuable space and create a cluttered look. Instead, opt for wall-mounted vanities and toilets to free up floor space and give the room a modern, open feel.
  • Incorporate built-in storage above or beside the vanity to keep essentials neatly organized while maintaining a clean aesthetic.
  • Using floating elements also makes cleaning easier, adding functionality and hygiene benefits.

Tip 2: Optimize the Layout for Better Movement

  • A poorly planned layout can restrict movement and make the space feel cramped. Place the sink near the entrance and the toilet further inside to create a natural flow.
  • Ensure that there is sufficient clearance around fixtures to allow for ease of movement, especially in narrow powder rooms.
  • Consider sliding or outward-opening doors to prevent congestion in tight spaces.

Tip 3: Utilize Under-Stair Space Effectively

  • Under-stair areas can be transformed into compact yet efficient toilet spaces by ensuring a minimum ceiling height of 1520mm (60 inches) for comfortable use.
  • Position the toilet at the highest point under the stairs while placing a wall-mounted sink on the lower side to balance function and accessibility.
  • Proper lighting and ventilation are crucial to prevent the space from feeling dark and claustrophobic.
